Ashley C. Kennedy
associate marriage and family therapist, mA, AMFT
I am a Relationship Psychotherapist based in Pasadena, CA specializing in working with individuals, couples and teens. I was drawn to the field of Psychology because of a natural curiosity about interpersonal relationships and what makes them work in the most optimal ways. I have an innate interest in helping people with their approach to the interactions and connections that they have with the people in their lives. Throughout my life, people have looked to me for advice or when they needed someone to really listen and hear them. These personality traits, along with the wisdom that life experience has provided me, have helped to guide me toward a career as a Psychotherapist.
I am currently an Marriage and Family Therapist Associate working under the clinical supervision of Wendy Lopata, LCSW # 26771 in a private practice in Pasadena, CA. I help clients with a wide range of issues including anxiety, depression, grief and loss, secular premarital counseling, trauma, infidelity, divorce and overall life dissatisfaction. I integrate a variety of therapeutic approaches into my work such as Emotionally Focused, Cognitive Behavioral and Psychodynamic Therapies.
I believe in providing a safe and comforting space free of judgment in which I will help you navigate through a range of challenges life can bring. Through a proactive and empathetic approach, I seek to learn the inner world of my clients. Together, we can identify the causes of blockers or disruption, find solutions, set goals and work towards a more peaceful, satisfying, grateful and fulfilled life.
Most importantly, I want you to know you are not alone.
I will walk through it with you.
"one day, in retrospect, the years of struggle will strike you as the most beautiful."

Individual therapy can be life changing. Together, you and I will figure out what's working and not working in your life and why. We will explore what's getting in the way of living the life you desire and come up with strategies to find a more fulfilling existence. Life is challenging, with unexpected events, changes and layers of history that we aren't meant to navigate alone. I'm here to walk through it with you and uncover the authentic and most healthy version of yourself.
Marriage requires a lot of work and caring "practice". Often people become complacent with negative patterns of communication and behavior in their marriages and the respect they once had for each other is compromised. Couples face many hurdles such as parenting differences, communication struggles, lack of passion, infidelity and financial strains. I serve as a neutral voice to help couples sift through the issues they are dealing with to find solutions and answers. I also share helpful information that can help change the way both people exist within the relationship and expose them to a different perspective of their marriage than they previously had.
Therapy is an intensely intimate experience and is most effective when you are working with a therapist who you have the right chemistry with. When it's a good fit, amazing transformations can happen. In order for you to feel comfortable and get a sense for who I am and what my style is, I offer a 15 minute free phone consultation before we schedule a session. This allows me to get an idea of who you are and what you seek to accomplish. We want to make sure it's the right fit on both sides so that you pursue your growth in the most optimal ways possible.
